You’re Telling Me How To Spend My Money?
Written by Todd L. MichaudSeptember 8th, 2009
"Vendors need to compete every day to win our business. If they fail to provide competitive prices or superior service, I want to have the ability to choose someone else."
Franchisee Columnist Todd Michaud can’t tell you how many times he had heard some version of this over the years. On the surface, this seems like a pretty straightforward argument . But with most things in life, it’s not quite that simple. I also have franchisees who pepper me with questions like: “Why is the system so expensive? Why can’t I have a single phone number to call for all of my problems? Why are these upgrades so expensive and why on earth do they take so long to complete? Why can’t I get access to better data faster? Who is holding this vendor accountable?” Not always, but sometimes, the answers to these questions are found by limiting the franchisees choices.

Our Comment SPAM system is getting very aggressive these days and has been blocking legitimate comments. If you post a comment and don't see it appear within 2 hours or so, can you please send a heads-up to customer-service@storefrontbacktalk.com? Ideally, please include the time you posted the comment. That will allow us to try and hunt for it. Thanks! P.S. We're working on fixing the system, but we don't want to lose any valuable comments in the meantime.

I have strong reservations about the 'individual' certification and posting of that information for merchants. Can you imagine the potential employee poaching that might occur? The implications when competitors can look up how many are certified with each of their competitors?
